Placing & claiming
A bounty is money on a player’s head. Anyone can add to it, and the player who kills them collects all of it.
Place a bounty
- Run
/bounty add <player> <amount>. - A confirm menu opens with the player’s head, the amount and the total cost.
- Click confirm. The money is taken and the bounty is saved.
Adding to a player who already has a bounty raises it. Players who are offline can be targeted too, as long as they have joined the server before.
Amounts
Amounts accept whole numbers, up to two decimals and short forms:
| You type | Amount |
|---|---|
1500 | 1,500 |
1.5k | 1,500 |
2m | 2,000,000 |
3b | 3,000,000,000 |
1,000 | 1,000 (commas and $ are ignored) |
What the player pays
- The bounty amount, plus a fee of
tax-percent: 0underbounty:percent on top (0 by default). The fee is not added to the bounty. - Each addition must be at least
minimum: 100underbounty:(100 by default). - A player’s total bounty can’t go above
maximum: 0underbounty:. 0 means no limit. - The player’s balance is checked before the confirm menu opens and again when they confirm.
- If saving the bounty fails, the money is returned right away.
Claiming
- When a player with a bounty is killed by another player, the killer receives the whole bounty and it is removed.
- The killer needs
bounties.claim(everyone has it by default). - Dying any other way (fall damage, mobs, lava) leaves the bounty in place.
- The killer, the victim and optionally the whole server are told in chat. The killer also hears a sound.
- The money is paid even if the killer logs out right after the kill.
Rules against abuse
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
allow-self-bounty | true | Lets players put a bounty on themselves. |
allow-self-claim | true | Lets a player claim their own bounty, for example by killing themselves with their own arrow. |
block-same-ip-claim | false | Stops a kill from paying out when killer and victim are connected from the same IP address. The bounty stays in place and the killer gets a message. |
Bounties are permanent
Bounties don’t expire, and money placed on a bounty can’t be taken back by the player who placed it. Admins can change or remove a bounty with /bounty set and /bounty remove.
